Terms of use
Effective 12 October 2026
Around the Stay is run by Mark Myles, in Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada. By signing in to Around the Stay you agree to these terms. If you only read a guide as a guest, the parts about guides and linked sites apply to you. Questions go to hello@aroundthestay.com.
What Around the Stay is
Around the Stay keeps a page for a short-term rental with what is happening nearby in the coming week, compiled automatically from public sources, each item linked to where it came from. How guides are made, and what information that uses, is described in the privacy policy.
Cost
Around the Stay is free while it is in early access. If that changes, you will be told by email before you are charged anything, and you can choose not to continue.
Your account
- An account is for one person. You are responsible for what happens through it, so keep your email secure.
- You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live.
What you add
You are responsible for what you put on your rental’s page — its name, the sites you list, and the notes you pin. It must be accurate, lawful, and yours to share, and must not mislead guests. Around the Stay may remove anything that breaks these terms. You keep ownership of what you write; you let Around the Stay display it on your rental’s page for as long as you keep it there.
The guides
- Guides are compiled automatically and can be wrong: an event can be cancelled, moved or sold out, and a source can be mistaken. Every item links to its source — check it before you set off.
- An item in a guide is not a recommendation or an endorsement, and Around the Stay is not connected to the events or places it lists unless it says so.
- Hosts can hide any item from their rental’s page.
Linked sites
Guides link to other people’s websites. Their content belongs to them, and Around the Stay is not responsible for it, for its accuracy, or for anything you do there.
Fair use
Don’t use Around the Stay to mislead or harm anyone, send cards to people who would not expect them, try to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours, disrupt the service, or copy it in bulk by automated means.
Availability
Around the Stay is new, and is offered as it is. It may change, be unavailable at times, or stop. If it is going to stop, hosts will be told by email in advance where possible.
Responsibility
To the extent the law allows, Around the Stay and Mark Myles are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions made on the strength of a guide. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for Around the Stay in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection law.
Ending
You can stop using Around the Stay at any time. You can delete a rental from its page, and your account and everything in it from Your account in the account menu, or by emailing hello@aroundthestay.com. Around the Stay may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and of Canada that apply there.
Changes
If these terms change, this page will show the new date, and hosts will be told by email of any change that matters to them. Continuing to use Around the Stay after a change means accepting it.
